About Teaching and Learning

In To Know As We Are Known, Parker Palmer suggests that, traditionally, modern education separates the knower and the known, the student and the subject being studied. It promotes objectivity, the Latin root of which is "to put against, to oppose". Consequently, instead of being drawn into a community of collaboration, we are drawn into competition.

This is a very thought provoking statement, one that can open up so many conversations, which is something I love to do. Only problem is...I don't know where to start. Almost in essence it stands to say that in order to learn, truly learn, we must struggle with what we are presented with. In that case, how do we come to know who God is or how the love that He has for us is real? Do we have to inevitably struggle with it first?
